Verreauxs Sifaka (Indriidae) is a species of lemur found in the eastern rainforests of Madagascar, and are large primates, with an average body length of about 25 inches and a weight of up to 9 pounds. They have long limbs and a tail that can be used for balance when leaping from tree to tree. Their fur is white or grayish-white with black patches on their face, hands, and feet and can diurnal animals that spend most of their time in trees feeding on leaves, flowers, fruits, and occasionally insects. They live in small family groups consisting of one male and several females who share the same territory. These lemurs are highly social animals who communicate through vocalizations such as barks, screams, whistles, chirps, clicks and clucks and can listed as endangered due to habitat destruction caused by deforestation for agriculture or logging activities. Conservation efforts have been put into place to protect this species from extinction but more needs to be done if we want these amazing creatures to survive for future generations.
