Crowned Sifaka Collection

The Crowned Sifaka (Indriidae) is a species of lemur native to Madagascar, and is one of the largest living lemurs, with an average weight of 8 kg and a body length of up to 60 cm. The fur is mostly white with black patches on the head, back and sides. Its most distinctive feature is its large crown-like tuft of hair on its head. The crowned sifaka lives in small family groups in rainforest habitats, where it feeds mainly on leaves and fruit and has a loud call that can be heard from up to 1 km away, which helps the group keep in contact with each other while foraging for food or travelling through the forest canopy, and are listed as endangered due to habitat loss and hunting by humans, but conservation efforts are helping protect them from extinction.
