Pictus Collection

Pictus are small, nocturnal rodents found in the deserts of North America. They have large ears and eyes, a long tail, and short legs, and are omnivores that feed on insects, seeds, fruits, and other small animals. Their fur is usually gray or brown with white stripes running down their back. Pictus live in burrows that they dig themselves or use abandoned ones from other animals, and are social creatures that live in groups of up to 15 individuals. During the day they rest in their burrows while at night they come out to forage for food and interact with others of their species. Although not endangered yet, Pictus populations have been declining due to habitat destruction and predation by larger animals such as coyotes and bobcats. Conservation efforts need to be taken to ensure the survival of this unique species of mammal into the future.
