Hare Collection

Hares are mammals of the family Leporidae, and they are closely related to rabbits. They have longer ears than rabbits and their legs are much longer. Hares also have a different coat color than rabbits, ranging from brown to white or grey. They live in open fields and grasslands, where they feed on grasses, herbs, twigs and bark and can reach speeds of up to 45 mph when running away from predators such as foxes or wolves. In the winter months they will burrow into the ground for shelter from cold temperatures. Hares breed in springtime with litters of up to six young being born after a gestation period of around 42 days. The young they are able to fend for themselves soon after birth and will reach maturity at around 8 months old.
