Johnstoni Collection

Johnstoni, also known as the African dormouse, is a species of Gliridae mammal found in Africa, and are small rodents with soft fur and large eyes. They have a long tail and short legs and can nocturnal animals that live in trees or underground burrows. They feed on fruits, nuts, insects, and other small animals. During the day they sleep in nests made from leaves and twigs which they build themselves or find abandoned by other animals. Johnstoni mate during the summer months when food is plentiful and give birth to litters of up to six young after a gestation period of about two months. These mammals are an important part of their ecosystem as they help disperse seeds through their droppings while feeding on plants and insects that can damage crops if left unchecked.
