Jaguarundi Collection

The Jaguarundi is a wild cat species native to Central and South America and has a slender body, short legs, and a long tail. Its fur is usually gray or brown with black markings on its face and neck. The Jaguarundi is an opportunistic hunter that feeds on small mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and insects. It prefers to hunt during the day but can also be active at night. This cat is solitary in nature but may form pairs or small groups when food sources are abundant, and are territorial animals that mark their boundaries with urine and scent glands located on their cheeks and forehead. The Jaguarundi's population has declined due to habitat loss caused by deforestation for agriculture as well as hunting for its fur or meat. Conservation efforts have been put in place to protect this species from further decline in numbers.
