Thomasi Collection

Thomasi, also known as the Thomas's pygmy mouse-opossum, is a species of dipodidae mammal found in South America, and is a small marsupial with a body length of up to 8 cm and a tail length of up to 10 cm. Its fur is grayish-brown on its back and white underneath. Its diet consists mainly of insects, but it will also eat fruits and other plant material, and is nocturnal and solitary, living in hollow logs or tree cavities during the day and foraging at night. Thomasi has been classified as Near Threatened by the IUCN due to habitat destruction caused by deforestation and agricultural activities in its range. Conservation efforts are needed to ensure its survival in the wild.
