European Roe Deer Collection

European Roe Deer (Capreolus capreolus) are a species of Cervidae mammals native to Europe and parts of Asia, and are small deer, typically weighing between 20-35 kg and standing at around 70 cm tall. The coat is reddish-brown in summer, turning greyish-brown in winter. Males have antlers which they shed each year during the springtime. Roe Deer are mainly solitary animals, living alone or in small groups of two or three individuals. They feed on grasses, herbs and shrubs as well as fruits and nuts when available. During the summer months they tend to stay close to cover such as woodland areas but can also be found in open fields where there is plenty of food available and can an important part of many ecosystems across Europe due to their role as both prey for larger predators such as wolves and foxes, while also providing food for humans through hunting activities.
