Toque Macaque Collection

Toque Macaque is a species of Old World monkey found in Sri Lanka and India, and are medium-sized primates with a body length of about 25 inches and weigh between 4 to 8 kilograms. Toque Macaques have gray fur, black faces, and long tails that can be used for balance when climbing trees. They live in troops of up to 30 individuals and feed on fruits, leaves, insects, small vertebrates, and bird eggs, and are diurnal animals that spend most of their time in the trees but will come down to the ground for food or water. They communicate through vocalizations as well as facial expressions and gestures, and are considered endangered due to habitat loss from deforestation as well as hunting for bushmeat or capture for the pet trade industry. Conservation efforts have been put into place to protect this species from further decline in population numbers.
