Guanaco Collection

Guanacos are mammals of the Camelidae family, which also includes llamas, alpacas and vicuñas, and are found in South America from Peru to Chile and Argentina. Guanacos have long necks and legs, a thick woolly coat that is usually brown or grey in color, and a short tail and can reach up to 6 feet tall at the shoulder when fully grown, and are herbivores that feed on grasses, shrubs and cacti. They live in herds of up to 20 individuals led by a dominant male. They communicate with each other using vocalizations such as bleats, barks and whistles as well as body language like head bobbing or tail twitching and can run very fast over long distances making them difficult prey for predators such as pumas or foxes. These animals play an important role in their ecosystems by dispersing seeds through their droppings which helps promote plant growth across the landscape.
