Mountain Goat Collection

Mountain goats (Oreamnos americanus) are bovid mammals that live in the mountains of North America, and are well adapted to living in cold, mountainous environments and have thick fur coats and cloven hooves that help them traverse rocky terrain. Mountain goats have a diet consisting mainly of grasses, sedges, lichens, mosses, and twigs. They also eat flowers and fruits when available. Mountain goats live in small herds led by a dominant male or female. Breeding season occurs during the summer months with females giving birth to one or two young each year after a gestation period of about five months. The young stay with their mother until they reach maturity at around 18 months old and can live up to 15 years in the wild but may live longer if given proper care in captivity.
