Klipspringer Collection

Klipspringer (Oreotragus oreotragus) is a small antelope species belonging to the Bovidae family of mammals, and are found in rocky habitats in eastern and southern Africa, including Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, and South Africa. Klipspringers have a stocky build with short legs and long hooves that enable them to move easily over rocky terrain, and are well adapted for climbing rocks and can jump up to 3 feet off the ground when startled. Their coats are grayish-brown with white patches on their flanks and bellies, providing camouflage against predators. Klipspringers live in small herds of up to 10 individuals, usually consisting of one male and several females with their young. They feed mainly on grasses but also eat leaves from shrubs or trees when available. During the day they rest in sheltered areas such as crevices or caves while at night they graze on open grasslands or hillsides, and are an important part of African ecosystems as they help keep vegetation levels low by grazing which helps prevent wildfires from spreading out of control during dry seasons
