Chiru Collection

Chiru (Pantholops hodgsonii) is a species of bovid mammal found in the Tibetan Plateau, and is also known as the Tibetan antelope, or "chiru" in Tibetan, thick, woolly coat that ranges from yellowish-brown to grayish-white and can be up to 30 inches long. Its head is large and round with short horns that curve backward, and are adapted to living in high altitudes and have an excellent sense of hearing and vision. They feed on grasses, shrubs, lichens, mosses, herbs, and other vegetation found at high elevations, and are highly endangered due to poaching for their fur which is used to make shahtoosh shawls; only about 75000 remain in the wild today. Conservation efforts have been put into place by governments around the world but more needs to be done if this species is going to survive for future generations.
