Caudatus Collection

Caudatus, also known as the Indian antelope, is a species of bovid mammal found in India and Pakistan, and is a medium-sized antelope with a long neck and legs, and short horns. Its coat is reddish-brown with white spots on the flanks and back. The caudatus has an omnivorous diet consisting of grasses, leaves, fruits, seeds and insects. It lives in small herds of up to 15 individuals that are led by a dominant male. During the dry season they migrate to areas with more water sources such as rivers or lakes where they can find food more easily, and are threatened by habitat loss due to human activities such as agriculture and overgrazing by livestock. Conservation efforts have been put in place to protect this species from extinction including protected areas for their habitats and strict hunting regulations for their meat which is highly sought after in some parts of India.
