African Buffalo Collection

African Buffalo, also known as Cape Buffalo, are large bovid mammals native to Africa, and are the largest of the African bovids and can reach up to 1.7 meters in height and weigh up to 900 kilograms. African Buffaloes have a thick, dark brown coat that is almost black in color with white patches on their bellies and legs. They live in herds of anywhere from 10-50 individuals, but can form larger groups during times of drought or when food is scarce. African Buffaloes feed mainly on grasses but also eat leaves, bark, fruit and even small animals such as rodents or birds when available, and are very social animals that communicate through vocalizations such as grunts and snorts as well as physical contact like rubbing against each other or wallowing in mud together. African Buffaloes are an important part of the ecosystem due to their grazing habits which help maintain grasslands for other species like antelopes and zebras.
