Addax Collection

Addax are a species of antelope that inhabit the Sahara Desert. They have long, curved horns and a white coat with black stripes and can well adapted to their desert environment, having evolved to survive in extreme temperatures and arid conditions and can go for long periods without water and subsist on sparse vegetation. Addax live in small herds of up to 10 individuals, usually led by an alpha male. They feed mainly on grasses and shrubs but will also eat leaves, fruits, and roots when available. The population has declined drastically due to hunting for their meat and horns as well as habitat destruction from human activities such as farming and oil exploration. Conservation efforts have been made to protect this species but it is still listed as critically endangered by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
