Black Rhinoceros Collection

The Black Rhinoceros is a large mammal native to Africa, and is one of the five species of rhinoceroses and is the most endangered species of all. The black rhino has two horns on its snout, which are made out of keratin, the same material that makes up human fingernails. The black rhino can weigh up to 2,000 pounds and can reach lengths of up to 6 feet, and are herbivores and feed mainly on grasses and leaves from bushes and trees. They have poor eyesight but an excellent sense of smell which helps them find food sources in their environment. As a result of poaching for their horns, habitat loss due to human development, and other factors, there are only around 5,500 black rhinos left in the wild today. Conservation efforts have been put in place to help protect this species from extinction but more needs to be done if we want future generations to be able to enjoy these magnificent animals in their natural habitats.
