Edwardsi Collection

Edwardsi is an extinct species of Archaeolemuridae, a family of mammals related to lemurs. It was first discovered in the late 19th century in Madagascar and is believed to have gone extinct around 4,000 years ago, a medium-sized primate with long arms and legs, a short tail, and large eyes. Its diet likely consisted of fruits, leaves, flowers, insects, and small animals such as lizards. Its habitat included tropical rainforests and dry deciduous forests with plenty of trees for climbing. Edwardsi had many adaptations for its environment including sharp claws for climbing trees as well as strong hind legs for leaping from tree to tree. It also had excellent vision which allowed it to spot predators from far away. This species has been extinct since the Holocene period but its fossils can still be found in Madagascar today providing us with valuable insights into this ancient mammal's life history.
