Bark Scale Collection

Bark Scale are small, sap-sucking insects that feed on the bark of trees and shrubs and can cause damage to the tree by weakening it and causing it to become more susceptible to disease. Bark scales have a hard outer shell that protects them from predators and environmental conditions. The insects reproduce quickly, laying eggs in clusters on the bark of trees or shrubs. The eggs hatch into nymphs which then feed on the bark until they reach adulthood. Bark scale infestations can be identified by looking for white, waxy deposits on the bark of trees or shrubs, as well as yellowing leaves and twigs with dead tips. Treatment for infestations includes pruning affected branches and applying insecticides or other chemical treatments to kill adult scales and their eggs.
