Skate Collection

Skate (Raja clavata) is a species of fish found in the North Atlantic Ocean and has a member of the Rajidae family and can grow to lengths of up to 1.5 metres and weigh up to 25 kg. Skates have flat, diamond-shaped bodies with two dorsal fins, an elongated snout, and five gill slits on each side of their head they can bottom-dwellers that feed mainly on crustaceans, molluscs and small fish they can oviparous animals meaning they lay eggs instead of giving birth to live young like mammals do. The female lays her eggs in sandy or muddy areas where they will be protected from predators until they hatch into juvenile skates after around 8 months and includes live for up to 20 years in the wild and are considered vulnerable due to overfishing and habitat destruction caused by human activities such as dredging and trawling.
