Ribbon Eel Collection

The Ribbon Eel is a species of eel found in the Indo-Pacific region and has an elongated body with a ribbon-like appearance and can reach up to 3 feet in length, unique color pattern, ranging from yellow to blue, depending on its age and sex. The adult males are usually black with a yellow head, while the females are more colorful with bright blue stripes along their bodies. They prefer to live in coral reefs or sandy bottoms at depths of up to 100 meters. Ribbon Eels feed mainly on small fish and crustaceans but will also eat worms and mollusks, and are not considered dangerous but can bite if provoked or threatened. As they are highly sought after by aquarium hobbyists, they have become increasingly rare due to overfishing and habitat destruction.
