Blackfish Collection

Blackfish is a 2013 documentary film that follows the story of Tilikum, an orca whale held captive at SeaWorld Orlando. The film examines the consequences of keeping orcas in captivity and explores the dangers posed to both trainers and whales. It features interviews with former SeaWorld trainers, marine biologists, and animal rights activists who discuss their experiences with captive killer whales. The documentary also shows footage of Tilikum's life in captivity as well as his involvement in three human deaths. Blackfish ultimately argues that orcas should not be kept in captivity due to their intelligence and social complexity, which cannot be replicated in a tank environment. The film has been credited with contributing to the decline of SeaWorld's popularity and has sparked conversations about animal welfare around the world.
