Bandfish are a species of fish found in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans, and are members of the family Trichiuridae and have an elongated body with a single dorsal fin, and are reach up to 2 feet in length and weigh up to 3 pounds. They feed on small crustaceans, mollusks, worms and other small fishes. They have two large eyes that are located close together near the top of their head which gives them excellent vision for hunting prey. They also have long pectoral fins that they use to swim quickly through the water while searching for food and can an important part of many marine ecosystems as they help keep populations of smaller prey species in check by preying on them when available.
