Humboldt Collection

Humboldt penguins are a species of penguin native to the coasts of Peru and Chile, and are named after the Humboldt Current, which is a cold ocean current that flows along the western coast of South America. These birds have black feathers on their backs and white feathers on their bellies, with a distinctive black band across their chests and can grow up to 28 inches tall and weigh up to 11 pounds. Humboldt penguins live in large colonies near rocky shorelines, where they feed mainly on fish, squid, and krill. They also use rocks as nesting sites for breeding pairs during mating season. The population of these birds has been declining due to human activities such as overfishing and habitat destruction, making them vulnerable to extinction in some areas. Conservation efforts are underway to protect this species from further decline.
