Isola Bella, Italy Featured Peacock Print

Isola Bella, Italy

The island of Isola Bella is perhaps the most admired destination on Lake Maggiore. It derives its fame from its stunning Baroque palace and elaborate Italian gardens. It was the crowning glory of a group of famous Italian architects in the 17th century who, thanks to generous sponsorship from the Borromeo family, were able to create a unique masterpiece. There are a number of peacock birds that roam round the gardens which adds charm to the gardens

Color patterns of bird plumage affect animal behavior and speciation. Diverse patterns are present in different species and within the individual. The patterns and colors are known to be important for attracting mates, protecting from predators, and they also affect bird behavior and can exhibit seasonal variations

Colorful and Distinctive Peacock Tail Feathers Featured Peacock Print

Colorful and Distinctive Peacock Tail Feathers

These tail feathers, or coverts, spread out in a distinctive train that is more than 60 percent of the bird's total body length and boast colorful "eye" markings of blue, gold, red, and other hues. The large train is used in mating rituals and courtship displays. It can be arched into a magnificent fan that reaches across the bird's back and touches the ground on either side. Females are believed to choose their mates according to the size, colour, and quality of these outrageous feather trains
