Bewicks Wren Collection

Bewick's Wren (Troglodytes troglodytes) is a species of wren, a small passerine bird in the family Troglodytidae, and is native to North America and parts of Europe, ranging from Alaska to Mexico and from Ireland to Siberia. The Bewick's Wren has a brown back with white streaks, white underparts with buff flanks, and a long tail with black-and-white barring. Its song is loud and melodious, consisting of trills and whistles that can be heard for some distance. It feeds mainly on insects but also eats spiders, snails, lizards, fruit and seeds. It prefers habitats such as woodlands or thickets near water sources where it can find plenty of food sources. Bewick's Wrens are social birds that will often form large flocks during migration or when food is scarce in winter months and are known for their nest building skills; they build cup-shaped nests out of grasses lined with feathers or fur which they place in tree cavities or other sheltered areas.
