Cape Starling Collection

Cape Starling (Sturnus unicolor) is a species of passerine bird in the family Sturnidae, and is native to South Africa and Namibia, where it can be found in open grasslands, woodlands, and scrub habitats, black head with white spots on its wings and back. Its bill is yellowish-orange and its legs are pinkish-red. It feeds mainly on insects, but will also eat fruits, seeds, and nectar from flowers. During breeding season it builds an elaborate nest made of twigs lined with grasses or feathers. The Cape Starling is considered to be an important seed disperser for many plants in its range due to its habit of eating fruits and then excreting the seeds elsewhere. This species has been classified as Least Concern by the IUCN Red List due to its large population size across much of southern Africa.
