Linnet Collection

Linnet is a small passerine bird that belongs to the finch family, and is found in Europe, Asia, and North Africa, brownish-grey back with a white underside and black wings with white spots. Its head is grey with a red forehead and its bill is short and conical. It feeds on insects, seeds, grains, berries, fruits and nectar. The Linnet builds its nest in trees or bushes using grasses, mosses and feathers for lining the nest cavity. Its song consists of high-pitched warbling notes which can be heard during the breeding season from April to August when they are most active, and are social birds that form flocks outside of the breeding season but are territorial during breeding season when they defend their territories against other birds by singing loudly from exposed perches or chasing them away if necessary.
