Stone Partridge Collection

Stone Partridge are a small, ground-dwelling bird native to North and South America. They have a round body, short legs, and a short tail. The upperparts of they can grayish-brown with white spots on the wings and back. The underparts are pale buff with dark barring on the breast. They have a black face mask that extends from their bill to their eyes and down their throat. Stone Partridges feed mainly on seeds, insects, berries, and leaves found in grassy areas or open woodlands. They form flocks when foraging for food or during migration periods in winter months. Breeding season occurs between April to July where they will lay up to 12 eggs in shallow scrapes lined with grass or leaves on the ground and can be hunted as game birds but populations have declined due to habitat loss from urban development and agricultural activities such as farming and grazing livestock which has led them to be listed as near threatened by IUCN Red List of Threatened Species since 2018.
