Laughing Kookaburra Collection

The Laughing Kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae) is a species of kingfisher bird native to eastern Australia and New Guinea, and is the largest member of the Dacelo genus, growing up to 43 cm in length, distinctive call that sounds like loud human laughter, hence its name. Its plumage is mostly brown with white patches on its wings and tail feathers. The Laughing Kookaburra feeds mainly on small reptiles, mammals, amphibians, insects and other small animals. It nests in tree hollows or abandoned nests of other birds and lays 2-4 eggs per clutch, and are highly territorial birds that live in family groups consisting of parents and offspring from previous years and are popular as pets due to their intelligence and ability to mimic human speech.
