Pheasant Tailed Jacana Collection

The Pheasant Tailed Jacana (Jacanas Charadriiformes) is a species of wading bird native to South and Southeast Asia, and is easily distinguished by its long tail feathers, which resemble those of a pheasant. The bird has an elongated neck and legs, with large feet that allow it to walk on floating vegetation in shallow water. Its wings are short and rounded, giving it the ability to maneuver quickly in search of food. The Pheasant Tailed Jacana feeds mainly on insects, crustaceans, mollusks and aquatic plants. Its bright yellow-orange bill helps it locate food in murky waters. It also uses its bill to stir up sediment from the bottom of ponds or streams in order to uncover prey items hidden beneath the surface, social species that often forms flocks when foraging or migrating between seasonal habitats. This species is listed as Least Concern by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
