Tsar Bomba nuclear weapon display. Museum display of an example of the casing of the most powerful nuclear weapon ever detonated. The Tsar Bomba (AN602) was a Soviet hydrogen bomb with a yield equivalent to 50 megatons of TNT explosives. It was detonated on 30 October 1961, in the Novaya Zemlya archipelago in the Russian Arctic. The resulting mushroom cloud reached a height of over 60 kilometres, and the effects were felt hundreds of kilometres away.
