Carina Nebula features, HST image. These pillars of gas and dust within the Carina Nebula are Herbig-Haro Objects (HH 901 and HH 902). The Carina Nebula is 7500 light years from Earth, in the constellation of Carina. This image, showing an area around 3 light years across, was obtained by the Hubble Space Telescope's WFC3 instrument. It was published in April 2010

Kim Philby, Soviet double agent C013/5334

Kim Philby (1912-1988). Portrait of the Soviet double agent Harold Adrian Russell Kim Philby (centre) with his wife Rufina. Philby was a high-ranking member of British intelligence who worked as a double agent before defecting to the Soviet Union in 1963. He served as both an NKVD and KGB operative. In 1963, Philby was revealed to be a member of the spy ring now known as the Cambridge Five, and is believed to have been the most successful in providing secret information to the Soviet Union

These crabs, also known as "canechos" by locals, leave their hiding places in the soft mud on the shore line between June 19 and 24 every year to search for a partner in a mating ritual that locals call "El baile de los Canechos" (the Canecho dance).
