Left to right: East Germany's Siegfried Schenke (#344), the USA's Larry Burton (#976), the USSR's Valeriy Borzov (#932), West Germany's Martin Jellinghaus (#371), the USA's Chuck Smith (#1016), Italy's Pietro Mennea (#528), and the USA's Larry Black (#973).
Borzov dominated the final, winning the gold by almost two metres over Black who took silver, with Italy's Pietro Mennea finishing third. Borzov's win completed a 100m/200m double, the first sprinter from outside North America to achieve this. Fourth-place finisher Larry Burton later played for five years in the NFL as a wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints and San Diego Chargers

A Nenets man rides a reindeer sledge near a settlement in Tundra region, about 85 km (53 miles) southeast of the town of Naryan-Mar, in northern Russia February 19, 2012. The bloodline community, which consists of the Lednev family members, lives far from the civilization and specializes in the deer farming. The Nenets are the indigenous tribe people of Russia's Far North, who live in poorly populated and developed Tundra region, near the coast of the Arctic Ocean. Picture taken February 19, 2012.
