Iliotibial running injury, artwork

Artwork (side view) of the muscles of the thigh showing iliotibial band syndrome (ITBS) or iliotibial band friction syndrome (ITBFS), a common injury to the thigh associated with running, cycling and weight-lifting. The iliotibial band runs down the thigh, stabilising the knee, but continual rubbing of the band over the lateral femoral epicondyle causes inflammation
