A view of the river filled with small row boats and houseboats during the regatta held annually between at least 1855 and 2001 on the River Thames (it has since transferred to Dorney Lake). Manhattanhenge 2011

Twice a year, the sunset in Manhattan aligns perfectly with the East/West avenues. This July, about 100 photographers crowded a tiny overpass to capture the event. This picture was taken from Tudor City Place, looking west down 42nd Street past the Chrysler Building on the right, Grand Central Station further down, and Times Square waaaay at the end. Stopped down a bit to get the starburst look and a bit wider to include the trees
