A view of logs made from the sawdust collected from the mills that cut Amazon trees, at a factory recently built by the municipal government of Tailandia, 180 km (112 miles) south of Belem at the mouth of the Amazon River, February 21, 2008. The pressed logs are being marketed as an ecological solution to at least two problems - the cutting of virgin trees to be made into charcoal and sold to industries and businesses that use it as fuel, and the contamination of the region by the enormous quantities of sawdust that the sawmills produce when cutting trees into planks for the construction and furniture industries. Coracle fishers on the River Teifi at Cenarth: Following a pattern evolved over two thousand years ago, coracle builders construct the oval, basket-shaped boats that were being used by ancient Britons when Caesar invaded the island. Willow and hazel rods are bent into shape and covered with tarred calico, making a small, light craft in which a single paddler sits. They are used mainly by salmon fishers along remote Welsh rivers, and coracle men have been responsible for adding measurably to Britain's fish supply during the war. When conditions are favourable the men often work for 19 hours a day. Circa 1945
