Lyra constellation. Optical image of the constell- ation Lyra, the lyre. North is at top. The bright star at centre right is Vega (Alpha Lyrae). This blue-white star, the fifth brightest in the sky, is 26.2 light years from Earth. The shape of the lyre is formed from the two stars making an equi- lateral triangle with Vega (to its left) and the parallelogram of stars at lower centre. Lyra is best seen in summer from the northern hemisphere
