The Excellence of British engineering has been demonstrated by two old motorcycles

The Excellence of British engineering has been demonstrated by two old motorcycles undergoing renovation in a council workshop. Despite years of neglects, a tankful of petrol and a little cleaning of points and plugs was all that was needed to start the 600cc engine of a 1952 Panther Sloper'. A 1938 Rudge Supersport was coaxed back to life almost as quickly even though a substitute petrol tank had to be rigged up to fuel the 250cc engine. The machines were discovered when Langbaurgh Borough Council began to take stock of museum exhibits which had been forgotten or lost during years of local government change. Depot worker, Mr Alf Wood with the two restored bikes. 1st April 1981
