Magaliesburg is a popular weekend getaway for the city dwellers of Johannesburg, Pretoria and Rustenburg. This area, known as Golden Valley, is very remote and chosen by many city folk seeking a country lifestyle. The scenic town of Magaliesburg lies some 25 kilometers from this location and the Magaliesberg mountain range can be seen in the distance. The town is part of what is termed the Magalies Meander and is a popular tourist destination in South Africa. The well known UNESCO World Heritage Site called The Cradle of Humankind is situated just outside the town of Magaliesburg.
