A Golden Monkey in the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda in August 2016. The Golden Monkey (Cercopithecus kandti) was once thought to be a subspecies of the Sykes Monkey (Cercopithecus albogularis) along with the Blue Monkey (Cercopithecus mitis) and the Silver Monkey (Cercopithecus doggetti) but all are now classified as separate species. Golden Monkeys are found only in the Virunga volcanic mountains which straddle Rwanda, Burundi, Ugand and the DRC. The species is listed as Endangered on the IUCN Red List.. Neville Jones
